This is the UMI C1 smartphone, the self-proclaim “2014 Quad Core Killer”. The actual hardware that makes the UMI C1 go consists of a quad core MTK6582 processor that can reach speeds of up to 1.4GHz, plus backing that chipset up is 1GB of RAM. The battery is removable and has a capacity of 2430mAh, which results in an adequate usage time and a long standby time.

The phone is built around a steel chassis which UMI tell us takes 36 hours to fully polish and aids cooling of the phone’s internals. A removable polycarbonate shell covers the back of the phone boasting a soft ‘baby skin’ feel and fingerprint resistant coating. These are certainly some nice features and that we don’t normally see, or expect on mid range phones.

The Verdict

A quad-core MTK6582 processor and 1GB RAM plus Android 4.4 are always a good mix when building a powerful phone on a budget. Throw all that in to a great looking steel chassis with 5.5-inch 720p display, micro SD card expansion and a 13 megapixel rear camera and it is all looking very lush. The UMI C1 is a quality piece of kit, and it should really as most of the body is taken from the flagship UMI X3 smartphone, but will be priced much more competitively so order now from banggood at a fantastic wholesale price.
