PayPal is going to release a VR glasses for customers

According to media reports, PayPal just applied for a patent on the augmented reality shopping experience last week. The patent can superimpose virtual information on physical products to enrich the shopping experience. Previous media reports have reported that technology giants like Apple are developing similar products, and PayPal is likely to apply augmented reality technology to smart glasses that support payment.

According to the patent introduction, the smart vr glasses can superimpose product introduction information and purchase options on physical goods. The patent was originally submitted in 2016, but it was further expanded and improved last week. If a shopper wears the smart glasses to see the goods on the shelf, virtual description information will pop up on the screen, including price, payment options, return warranty policy, and so on. The glasses also allow shoppers to simplify the steps of online shopping, and the seller and buyer's information has been saved to the system before.

According to Jefferies Senior Vice President and Financial Technology Analyst Ramsey El-Assal, augmented reality glasses can be used as another digital payment solution to consolidate PayPal's mobile payments status over the years. Ramsey El-Assal stated that PayPal will not introduce such smart glasses as described in the patent for a while, but once the technology matures, similar products will soon be available to users. With the integration of physical and digital commerce, this patent allows people to see the idea of PayPal.

Currently PayPal has been expanding its application of payment and Venmo checkout services. For a long time, customers of online retailers can use their own PayPal account to pay, but through the special hardware and mobile systems introduced in this patent, online payment process can also be realized in physical retail stores. However, concerns about the appearance design of augmented reality glasses and the safety issues that may arise when purchasing payment are also worthy of attention. However, at present, PayPal will become one of the early participants in the virtual reality business.
