In early April, Google officially launched YouTube TV, after which the service expanded rapidly. Google wanted to challenge Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu Live TV, DirecTV Now, and Fire TV. YouTube TV has only been available to the mobile and desktop sides before, and can push content to the TV, but YouTube TV has not launched a stand-alone App for TV viewers.
October 2017, Google launches a YouTube TV App for Android TV Devices with Supported Devices including Nvidia Shield and other TVs with built-in Android TV such as Sony TV; also supports the Xbox One product line including Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X. In the ensuing weeks, Google TV App will also enter other smart TVs, such as LG, Samsung, Sony TV, and also including Apple TV.
Today, Youtube TV application finally officially landed on the Apple TV set-top box, Apple TV's AppStore is now available for free download of this application. The launch of YouTube TV on AppleTV is catching up with the eve of the 52nd Super Bowl, which will attract more platform users to subscribe to YouTube TV service. YouTubeTV costs $35 a month and offers live broadcasts of U.S. cable channels such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN and more.
YouTube TV includes over 40 channels, including live sports and news shows, unlimited recording space for DVRs, access to places across the United States, and YouTube Red services. In a recent interview with media The Verge, Christian Oestlien, a Google product manager, said although YouTube TV was initially "mobile first", it was found by later follow-up surveys that more and more consumers liked to watch in the living room through the Google Cast product Preferred video. To this end, Oestlien said that in addition to Apple TV, devices such as Roku, as well as smart TVs such as Samsung, Sony and LG, will natively support YouTube TV. If you don’t own an Apple TV, maybe you can try the more affordable TV Receiver Box to enjoy the YouTube live.
