IBM Shows "World's Smallest PC"

On March 20th, at the IBM Think 2018 Conference, IBM demonstrated that it was the smallest PC in the world. The size of the micro PC is 1mm*1mm, which is smaller than a grain of salt, and the manufacturing cost is less than 10 US cents.

From the appearance, this PC is just a chip form, but it is more compact than sea salt particles. In other words, without the help of the outside world, ordinary people find it difficult to find the existence of this PC.

In terms of functionality, the micro PC has a processor with "hundreds of thousands" transistors, an SRAM memory, a photovoltaic cell for power supply, and a communication unit that communicates with the outside world using LEDs and a photodetector. IBM claims that the micro PC has comparable performance to the x86 chip in 1990, which means it can run the first generation of Doom.

The practical application of IBM's micro PC is mainly focused on supply chain management and blockchain. It can be used as a data source for blockchain applications, track the delivery of goods, prevent theft and counterfeit fraud, and can also perform basic artificial intelligence operations. This device contains hundreds of thousands of transistors, with monitoring, analysis, communication and even more operations on the data. According to the founding staff, the main role of this PC is to track the transportation of goods and regulate the unreasonable behavior of the goods in the transportation process.

IBM staff revealed that the future of micro-PCs will completely change people's lives, especially the android mini pc, from medical care to logistics, and even all aspects of life. This highly integrated embedded product will appear more in our lives. And IBM is currently testing the prototype of this PC.

The official release date of the micro PC has not yet been determined and it is still in the prototype stage.
