Nokia is working on smart city

On March 7, according to media reports, Nokia will launch a series of services based on Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis and blockchain technologies to help the sustainable development of the smart city economy and environment. In other words, Nokia's services and technologies will be used to manage the "Smart City" video surveillance, network, Internet of Things, sensors, parking conditions and environment.

In the emerging Internet of Things, billions of connected devices and sensors will generate huge amounts of data. To create a smart city, real-time environmental data needs to be acquired, processed, analyzed, and acted in a timely manner to ensure a sustainable environment for citizens. To ensure that the Smart City's IoT ecosystem is more effective, creating new data monetization opportunities for IoT sensor network operators to provide smart city management with processed and analyzed real-time environmental data, which is important.

Among them, Nokia's "Sensing as a Service" (S2aaS) can intelligently analyze the environmental data collected by IoT sensors. Operators can then sell the analyzed data to cities or other regulators. Nokia believes that a real-time monitoring system based on the Internet of Things can provide Smart City managers with timely environmental data. For example, S2aaS can detect unusual environmental behaviors such as illegal construction, waste incineration, or abnormal particles in the air. In this case, it is important to have an ip camera with smart sensors for a smart home.

The S2aaS is powered by a blockchain with a built-in micro-payment platform that supports smart contracts for "anonymous, private and secure micro-transactions allowing operators to monetize analytics data to gain new revenue streams." Independent operators can choose the traditional "capital expenditure" business model, you can also choose "service sharing" service model. Nokia said it will work with customers to help them select the best business model for specific cases.

Nokia will manage all hardware installations and use existing environmental sensors and edge gateways to complete existing outlets. S2aaS will include a complete platform for collecting and processing sensor data hosted by Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS or Nokia Private Cloud.
